Job Title:  After School Club Manager
Salary: £11417 - £12,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 3pm to 6pm (15 hours) term time only
Location:  Harvington C of E First & Nursery School
Permanent 

Wrappers is Harvington CE First and Nursery School’s after school club. We are looking for someone to run and manage Wrappers, organising safe, fun and creative opportunities for children alongside our experienced team of play workers.

Main duties and responsibilities include

  • Supervising a team of play workers, directing the work of staff based at the after school “Wrappers” club.  Organising activities and inducting new staff members.
  • Working with all staff to provide care, as well as play opportunities and activities in a safe, nurturing and fun environment.

Management and administrative duties and responsibilities include

  • Manage the staffing requirements of After School Club, ensuring suitable staffing ratios.
  • Plan a variety of activities for the children, considering their interests, needs and ages. 
  • Liaise with the children to implement daily activities.
  • Maintaining records relating to the After School Club in accordance with data protection and freedom of information legislation/regulations. 
  • Promoting and marketing the School After School Club to maintain occupancy and revenue streams. 
  • Developing professional working relationships with the school and all relevant professionals and authorities. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality of the After School Club’s service.
  • Maintaining working relationships with other site users. 
  • Ensuring that all staff work within the policies, guidance and procedures of the school. 
  • Taking responsibility for personal professional development, including participation in annual appraisals and any necessary training. 
  • Carrying out any other duties that would enhance the work of the school’s extended day services. 

Health and safety duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation/legal guidance. 
  • Working with the team to provide a small meal/snack to the children during the club. 
  • Undertaking the appropriate risk assessments for After School Club, where necessary. 
  • Ensuring that adequate standards of safety and hygiene are maintained throughout After School Club, including the completion of appropriate risk assessments, and the recording and reporting of hazards and incidents. 

Safeguarding duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation/legal guidance. 
  • Having due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and for following the child protection procedures adopted by the School. 

General duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Contributing to the quality assurance process of the school and the After School Club. 
  • Contributing to the development of the school improvement plan and to the fulfilment of its objectives. 

Qualifications/training

  • NVQ Level 3 in childcare and education or equivalent.
  • First Aid training or a willingness to become trained
  • Food hygiene training or a willingness to become trained

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory 
response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions. The County Council has a commitment to safeguarding service users in our care.
