Early Years Teaching Assistant – 2 & 3 year olds (Level 3) 

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 9-3, Monday-Friday

Weekly Hours: 30 hours 

Salary: TA3

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Early Years Teaching Assistant with a Level 3 qualification to support our provision for 2 and 3-year-olds and support the running of our holiday club provision (to be agreed).  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that foster communication, physical skills, social development, and early literacy and numeracy
  • Support learning through play and planned activities within the nursery for 2 and 3 year olds 
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare requirements are consistently met
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers 
  • Encourage a balance of adult-led and child-initiated play, making the most of our large outdoor spaces
  • Work closely with colleagues and the SEND team to support children with additional needs
  • Promote a safe, nurturing environment that supports positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Contribute to smooth daily routines such as snack times and transitions, ensuring a welcoming and well-organised Nursery experience

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Must hold a full and relevant Level 3 EYFS qualification enabling inclusion in the statutory staffing ratio (as stated in the DFE document ‘UK qualifications that meet the Department for Education (DfE) criteria for counting in the early years foundation stage statutory framework staff:child ratios’).
  • Experience: must have experience of working with children in EYFS.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with young children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Child-Centred Approach: Commitment to creating a warm, responsive, and inclusive environment that respects each child’s individuality.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, valuing each member’s contribution.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of children and the school’s operational requirements.
  • Observation and Assessment: Skilled in observing children’s development and contributing to formative assessments to inform planning.
  • Knowledge of EYFS: Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Behaviour Management: Confident in supporting positive behaviour and promoting social and emotional development.
  • Outdoor Learning: Enthusiasm and ability to utilise the school’s large outdoor spaces to enhance children’s learning experiences.
