The Role:
You are invited to apply for the exciting and rewarding role of Social Worker in our Homeless Intervention Team (HIT)
Out HIT Team recently won “Small Team of the Year” award in June 2025.
The HIT team were also recognised by Ofsted as delivering an excellent service to 16–17-year-olds at risk of homelessness.
Our small team comprises of 2 Social Workers with 2 Specialist Family Support Workers who provide practical support to our young people and assist the Social Workers in carrying out their role. The team is led by our Team Manager Kim Potter who promotes the team principles of supporting each other through competent, knowledgeable and relationship-based practice.
The HIT team is a Safeguarding service but is based within our Throughcare Service. This role will provide you with the opportunity to undertake Social Work Assessments, Section 47 Enquiries, Child in Need Plans as well as Looked After Children practice & transfers to the Care Leavers team.
This unique experience can provide the successful candidate with a rounded knowledge of the role of a social worker in Children’s services as well as equipping you with developmental experiences that can support your progression and career moving forward.
The team have very manageable workloads with an emphasis on providing high support to our young people and their families. The focus of the work is to support young people to remain at or return home to live with their families where it is safe for them to do so.
Where we are unable to do so, you will work with Local Housing Districts to undertake a joint assessment where the young person makes a fully informed decision about their care an support needs moving forward.
