The Role:

Are you passionate about Hair and/or Beauty and supporting learners to succeed?

Do you want to help young people build confidence, develop practical skills and progress into employment or further learning within a supportive, inclusive environment?

If so, we’d love you to join our committed and friendly team.

Learning Services Worcestershire is expanding its Young Adult Learning (YAL) provision and is seeking enthusiastic sessional staff to deliver Hair and/or Beauty within Study Programmes for learners aged 16–24.

About the Provision

Hair and Beauty is primarily delivered within our employment-focused Young Adult Learning Study Programmes, designed to support learners to develop the skills, confidence and behaviours needed for adulthood and the workplace.

All YAL learners work towards an accredited qualification, embedded within their wider programme.

At Level 1, learners achieve a qualification in Skills for Education, Training and Personal Development (SETPD). This includes subject-specific Hair and/or Beauty units, alongside core units in personal development, employability and preparing for adulthood. Delivery typically takes place in a salon-style learning environment, enabling learners to develop practical, work-related skills in a realistic setting.

Learners may then progress to industry-recognised qualifications, such as VTCT, where appropriate, supporting progression into employment, apprenticeships or further learning.

Our Hair and Beauty curriculum also includes an established adult (19+) offer, delivering VTCT Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. There may also be opportunities to contribute to this provision, supporting delivery alongside the existing team.

Many of our learners have experienced disrupted education and may have a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health challenges. Through small group sizes, a flexible curriculum and strong pastoral support, we create a safe and engaging environment where learners can thrive.

About the Roles

We are recruiting to our established, career-graded tutor pathway:

Tutors – £14.82 per hour

Plan and deliver high-quality Hair and/or Beauty sessions, primarily within YAL provision, supporting learners to achieve their SETPD qualification and develop practical and employability skills.

Senior Tutors – £16.35 per hour

Alongside teaching, contribute to curriculum planning, quality improvement and the mentoring of colleagues.

While these roles sit within a wider generic tutor structure, you will primarily deliver within your Hair and/or Beauty specialism. Full expectations are outlined in the job description.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on the role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Hair and/or Beauty sessions in a practical, salon-style environment
