Job Title: Maternity Cover Team Manager 

Salary: £50,000 - £59,000 per annum 

37 Hours per Week

Location: WorcesterTeam: South Team 1

Fixed Term Contract 


The Role.
Worcestershire County Council are looking for a skilled, child-focused Team Manager to join our locality safeguarding team for a fixed term maternity cover post of between 9-12 months.  


Our Team Managers play a central role in supporting our social workers to achieve great outcomes for our children and young people.  You will join a stable and committed management group, supervising 5 or 6 social workers who hold children subject to Child Protection plans, and may also be the subject of PLO pre-proceedings and care proceedings, all the way through to a child's permanence plan.  


Your team will progress children's plans in a timely manner, ensuring their voice and robust assessment is at the heart of our work. 
Worcestershire have an excellent and established management development and training pathway which you will be supported to participate in. 


We are looking for candidates with a strong background in safeguarding and Court work, and experience of supervising and supporting staff.

Leadership and Management

•    Proven ability to lead, motivate and support social work teams in a busy safeguarding environment

•    Strong decision making skills with the confidence to manage risk and prioritise effectively

•    Ability to provide reflective supervision that promotes professional development

Safeguarding Expertise

•    In depth knowledge of statutory safeguarding responsibilities, child protection procedures and relevant legislation

•    Skilled in managing complex cases and guiding practitioners through challenging situations

•    Understanding of early help, multi agency working and child centred practiceCommunication and Collaboration

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•    Ability to develop positive working relationships with partner agencies, including police, schools, health services and voluntary organisations

•    Skilled in chairing meetings, including strategy discussions and multi agency reviewsQuality and Performance

•    Experience of monitoring performance, ensuring compliance with policy and improving practice standards

•    Ability to analyse information, identify patterns of concern and implement service improvements

•    Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing demands
