Job Title: Road Safety Engineering Manager
Salary: £47,495 - £51,070 per annum
35 Hours per Week

You will lead the delivery of Worcestershire County Council’s statutory duties in road safety engineering.
You will embed a strategic and evidence based approached to delivery, ensuring road safety is at the heart of our highway improvement programmes.
You will lead an experienced and professional team and will work closely with colleagues, councillors, and key stakeholders to shape the road safety and wider corporate objectives.
You will work in the Economy and Infrastructure Directorate within the Traffic Management service and will be responsible for ensuring delivery against the key statutory function of Road Safety through accident studies and the delivery of highway improvements.

You will have a relevant degree level education or relevant work experience with an excellen understanding of the different strands of road safety and/or highway engineering project management, and how this influences the wider social, environmental and economic impacts.
Ideally you will have experience in road safety auditing for highway improvement schemes.
You will be a proficient leader who is able to demonstrate experience of managing, motivating and developing staff, ensuring resources are well planned and work delivered with targets achieved.
You will have well developed project management and delivery skills, including skills for coordination, liaison and the ability to plan, manage, lead and monitor projects and teams.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate messages (which may be complicated or sensitive) clearly, concisely and at a level appropriate to the audience, who may not be specialists in road safety.
You will also have the ability to demonstrate higher level thinking skills, in order to think through issues, make connections and establish solutions which draw on this bigger picture view of highway improvement. If you have the ability to build credible working relationships, build rapport and negotiate, be able to handle issues and
influence others. If you have a good working knowledge of (and have kept up to date with) relevant processes, legislation, law, best practice and DfT guidelines.
