The postholder will help  to deliver ambitious highway schemes benefitting our residents and wider communities, including working  on some  of the largest developments in south Worcestershire including  new settlements and urban expansions, focused on  sustainable growth across all transport modes

The transport network of the County is critical to economic growth, with investment proposed and planned in the road network, rail stations and service connectivity plus active travel. The County already has a strong record of delivery, having invested in significant road improvements including dualling the A4440 around Worcester, delivering Worcestershire Parkway rail station and active travel infrastructure including Kepax bridge across the Severn.

The County is a diverse and vibrant mix of rural and urban communities, benefitting from the high-quality environment which Worcestershire offers. The major rivers of the Severn, Avon and Teme weave through the county, integral to our history, and shaping our landscape and growth proposals

Working with closely with the south Worcestershire  Local Planning Authorities, the postholder will need to work across all aspects of the development process from pre-application discussion to condition discharge and post applications consents

Proposals in the South Worcestershire  Development Plan  include allocations of all sizes from  new settlements, to urban extensions and rural expansion sites, ensuring a range of planning applications with many different considerations.

The role will also assist in shaping emerging Local Plans and associated infrastructure requirements,  helping to take proposals from concept to reality

We are looking for a transport professional to join the team, with an ambition to deliver growth proposals and develop their career.  The successful candidate will be part of the Highways Development Management team  at the County Council and will have worked  in planning or transport planning and have experience of assessing the impact of planning applications,  writing responses and securing mitigation
