We are looking for:
A Family Support and Safeguarding Officer to start ASAP. 30 hours per week, full year working.
St. Mary’s CE (VA) Primary School is looking to recruit an exceptional and dynamic person to fulfil this key role in school. The successful applicant will be required to offer support and challenge to families through forging strong relationships with the close and wider school community in order to reduce the impact of deprivation and disadvantage on children’s educational attainment.
The purpose of this role is to:
Work in supportive and strength-based ways to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families.
- Work as part and/or lead multi-agency teams with parents, children, young people, and other agencies to positively make a change in family behaviours.
- Ensure that universal and targeted support services are fully accessible to parents and carers to positively improve outcomes for children and families.
- Work with leaders and take a key role on implementing and embedding safeguarding procedures and processes ensuring that school is collectively and effectively implementing requirements of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’
The role covers supporting families with issues including school attendance, behaviour management, home routines, family relationships, supporting as advocates and delivering/brokering support programmes and courses. Direct work with young people listening to their views, supporting change, building self-esteem, keeping them safe, managing emotions and improving communications is key. The successful applicant must be committed to promoting the school community in and beyond the local area and to ‘going the extra mile’ to help families overcome their disadvantage.
Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions. The County Council has a commitment to safeguarding service users in our care.
