Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to start on Mon 13th April 2026. The role may involve working across both key stages at times, assisting the class teacher and working with individuals and small groups of children under the direction of the class teacher.

We are looking for a person who will:

  • follow teacher instructions carefully
  • use their initiative when required
  • treat colleagues respectfully
  • be flexible in their approach to timetabling
  • support children in the classroom and during offsite visits
  • support children with special educational needs as directed by class teacher
  • cover break-time duties
  • lead intervention sessions
  • promote our School Christian values.

Our School Vision:  Jesus promised a ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). As a unique rural school, inspired by our Christian love, we nurture our family to grow and shine spiritually, personally and academically.

Tardebigge First School opened in 1815 to serve the well-established districts of Tardebigge and surrounding areas. The school is a small 1-form entry First School with extensive grounds and beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.

We can offer highly-motivated, happy and confident children and a dedicated, flexible team to work with you.  Our school invests significantly in a continued, professional development programme.  We were judged as ‘good’ in our most recent Ofsted inspection.

We value working collaboratively with other local schools and have established an informal network providing support for each other. Relationships across the community are excellent: all staff work together co-operatively, parents are supportive and the Governing Body is fully involved in the life of the school.

We seek to appoint staff who are enthusiastic, well-motivated and committed to move the school forward and offer the best possible education and care for pupils.

Tardebigge First School is committed to safeguarding, the PREVENT strategy and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Pupils learn to accept and uphold our fundamental British values.

All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. A Disqualification Self Declaration Form is to be completed and returned with the application.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions. The County Council has a commitment to safeguarding service users in our care.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender reassignment, age, disability, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy/maternity or race.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
